literally

I’ve wanted to watch (500) Days of Summer since I came across the movie title in the yahoo page and learned that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is in it. Also, considering the title, I got this hunch that it would be interesting and refreshing and of course, the fact that JGL starred in it is already a treat.

I waited for it last year to be shown in Dubai cinemas but I don’t know if I just missed it despite checking Cinestar websites every once in a while or again Dubai decided to be stupid and preferred other irrelevant nonsense movies instead of a good one.

So I just downloaded it and watched it last Tuesday and got another movie to put in favorites list. I so love (500) Days of Summer! It certainly lived up to my expectations and more… the only thing that’s bugging me is that it took me this long before I get to watch it.

Can’t help chuckling every time I remember this scene:

TOM: I liked this girl. I loved her. And what did she do? She took a giant shit on my face… Literally.
ALLISON: Literally???
TOM: Well, no, not literally. That's disgusting. Jeez, what's wrong with you?

I liked this scene too:

RACHEL: Better that you find this out now before you come home and find her in bed with Lars from Norway.
TOM: Who’s Lars from Norway?
RACHEL: He's some guy she met at the gym with Brad Pitt's face and Jesus' abs.
TOM: … And this:

SUMMER: I woke up one morning and I just knew.
TOM: Knew what?
SUMMER: What I was never sure of with you.

There are some many great scenes in this movie. I have to stop myself before I go on and on about it. What more can I say?... I love it! Har, har, har!

burn, baby burn!

I was looking at our bedside mirror last night and naturally, I saw myself and it made me blurt out, “Hmmm, it seems like Dubai is sucking the light out of me. I can’t even bear to proclaim myself charming anymore… Sad, sad, sad… Sad, sad, sad…” My hubby, who is already used to my weird talking-to-the-mirror-and-other-inanimate-objects behavior, just said (even though he knows I’m not talking to him), “Nde, charming ka pa rin!”

I told him that though positive affirmation from him helps, I still really do think that my light is flickering…

Then this afternoon, while browsing conyo’s tumblr, I stumbled upon this:

I smiled and said to my monitor, “Har, har, har! Ayn Rand gets me. Cool…”

Hehehe...

The world I desire can be won. Must keep that in mind.
Aja, Mi! Should be able to turn that flickering light into a fire again... :D

sana, sana...

Hay naku, mamamatay rin lang naman lahat ng tao bat kasi ung mga bwisit e hindi pa unahing kunin now na...

I’m having another crappy day at the office and I’m wishing that those annoying, arrogant but so stupid people who thinks too much of themselves to just simply perish or at least be gone in a sense that I won’t need to encounter them anymore…

Ugh! Why do I let them affect me and let them bring out the worst in me?

Merde, merde, merde!

I must learn to just laugh at them instead of being annoyed... Must keep this in mind:
“Don’t take life too seriously; after all, no one comes out of it alive.”

No more 10-20 in 2010

"Ten, twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, seventy, eighty, ninety, one hundred!”

Yessah! The game 10-20… I used to play this a lot when I was a kid. This and Chinese garter and luksong baka and piko... Hey, I realize I’ve never been the “baka” in luksong baka game! Ang galing ko nga pala tumalon. Yey, I rediscovered something that I’m good at! I’ve got talent after all! Well… it’s a pretty useless talent but talent nonetheless. I’m also pretty good at piko, mainly because I’ve got this flat pamato that I found near the garden of our elementary school. My playmate, James got annoyed of that thing and threw it at a nearby canal. I got so pissed off so I punched him on the face then grabbed his hair and pulled him towards the canal while saying, “pulutin mo ung pamato ko, pulutin mo sa kanal!!!”

Anyway, back to what I mean to write… yep, about 2010. (Hmmm… I forgot what I’m about to write coz all I can think about now is why I always get distracted with pointless thoughts when I’m writing… Do I have ADHD? I better finish writing this note so I can cross out one of the symptoms)…

Moving on… I wonder if kids nowadays know how to play piko or 10-20? I don’t see children playing outside anymore or hear them singing play songs with wrong lyrics like, “I love you teleber-teleber, bi ay bi, water bi, Shaider, Shaider love Annie!” Do they even know Shaider?

Last July, I went home for a vacation and I get to spend a lot of time in our good old looban. There, whenever I see my neighbors’ children outside, they are usually on their way to the computer center to play counter strike, dota or to chat online and visit their social networking sites and as they go, they often say something to me like, “Te Mi, add mo ko as neighbor sa resto city ha” or “Te Mi, padalhan mo ko ng peach saka zinnia tapos attack mo nga si Barbie sa SL, terminally depressed nako dahil sa kanya e.” My mom asked me if I know what they’re talking about coz it seems to her that those kids are talking gibberish. I just said to her, “alam nyo naman mga bata ngayon, sobrang techie na.” Then she said, “Ano naman ung teki???” hehehe…

Now another year is here; 2010 na. It still amazes me how time goes so fast. So many things happened; so many improvements have been made… Kids are no longer fond of physical games, they’re so into computers; I even saw a four year old kid opening a laptop, scanning her finger to log in and go to facebook and feed her virtual fishes in Happy Aquarium application.

Kakaiba na talaga ang panahon ngayon. I just hope that by the time I have my own kids, they can get the chance to enjoy playing games like 10-20, piko, langit lupa and jump rope while singing i love you teleber teleber… I hope by that time, in na ulit ang mga larong ganun. Sana naman kasi ayoko silang ma-obese.
